Specializing in starting young horses from the ground up. All of my client's horses are treated and trained as if they were one of my own. they learn respecting space, picking up thier feet, yeilding to spray bottles, blankets, hoses, and noise distractions are all part of training. Work is started in a round pen in all gaits, learning to yield to voice and movement commands, then ground driving. A full cheek snaffle bit is then introduced and all gaits are started again. When all the basics are complete, the horse is taught to back, mounted and dismounted from both sides in the round pen, then ridden at a walk, then advanced to trot and eventually jog/canter. Moving to a large paddock, then to trails. Water, bridges, bags and other things that come up on the trail are all introduced. The ideal length of stay is 45 to 60 days, sometimes longer or shorter depending of the progress of the individual horse.
"Tune-Up" training is also available for those horses that have "gotten rusty" on parts of their trainng - gaited horses are also welcomed. Please call Marcia Krick for more information or for references.
